
More unpacking, more cleaning, and more organizing challenges: namely, the fact that I am a voracious reader who is currently bookcase-less.  How did this happen? Right before I moved I sold my beloved Pottery Barn Graham Desk and Hutch.  I loved this desk, but it won't match the décor scheme in my new apartment so I found it a good home with a coworker on the Upper West Side.  I loved this bookcase for two reasons:

For serious readers, books are a large part of the décor in a room, and potentially a source of clutter. This post from Shelter Pop got me thinking about flipping your books so the seam faces away and the white pages face you - basically, backwards books. I recently saw the concept in person while shopping in West Elm (I finally purchased my first Parsons Desk in white), and I have to admit, it made the bookcase more serene and neat.

Fortunately, my mom introduced me to a great product that has helped tremendously to organize my spices. My cooking preparation and clean-up time has decreased considerably because I can now find my spices easily. What a great find!

What a way to organize on a family tree! I was finally able to catch "Who Do You Think You Are?" last night thanks to my trusty TiVo. The show was well-made and compelling, and I thought Sarah Jessica Parker's reaction to the question of her ancestor's role in the Salem Witch Trials was interesting: was she an accuser or an accused? I would not want to think of my ancestor's being accusers, either. Of course, this led me to think about my own family tree.
