
Q: I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find a 1 piece shower stall that doesn't come with a pre-drilled hole?
Our house is old [and] the drain hole will not line up with any of the pre-cut drains. If you know of any vendors that do that if you could let me know that would be fantastic!

A: When all is said and done, you will find it easier and cheaper to do either of two things:

A: Shower stalls can be made of either pre-fabricated materials, such as acrylic, or can be built from scratch (typically from ceramic tile).
So, in the case of the built-from-scratch shower stalls, anything is possible.
As a rule of thumb, you can think of 36" as a typical shower stall width, though with changing styles and expectations it's hard to say what is "typical" anymore.

The short answer is "Don't." But if you must, the best thing is to arm yourself with lowered expectations.
Fiberglass and acrylic shower stalls really are not meant to be painted. The beauty of these suckers is that they can be removed and replaced with... Well, not exactly with ease, but certainly easier than laboriously chipping out an entire tiled shower stall.
