If you're looking for a way to
keep your recycling bins handy and organized but out of the way,
this clever recycling bin cabinet does the trick.
Over at IKEAHacker, they highlight how one German reader hid his recycling bins by crafting a clever cabinet for his kitchen. He lives in an apartment and space was tight, so the best way to have the recycle bins handy but out of sight was to take some inexpensive IKEA components and make a hidden recycling storage area:
We took an Akurum cupboard with Applad doors and handles to match our Ikea kitchen. Put the worktop on which is also used in...
We've all got the best of intentions when it comes to recycling, but your home's recycling spot can quickly become cluttered and underutilized. The Re-Nest blog offers advice and inspiration on crafting a recycling station that really works, and actually fits.
Like so many things related to organization, a recycling station only makes sense if it fits into how your use, toss, and recycle your goods. I measured my longest knife blade for the length of the long slats, and steak knife blades for the length of the short slats. I began to hot-glue the slats on ...
With broadband market penetration, mailing a physical disc of information might seem quaint. Still for those times when you need to mail a CD or DVD, this DIY recycled mailer is quite clever.
The hack is super simple. Rinse out your milk or juice carton. Cut along the top and bottom. Flatten the carton. Cut the carton down to size—a few inches taller than your disc—and then cut the top and bottom edges to have a "flap" you can fold down a tape in place. It's simple, sturdy, and about the same weight and thickness as a regular commercial CD mailer.

We often overlook the space behind a door, above the laundry appliances or under the stairs. And closets often have the most inefficient use of space than anywhere else. When you're trying to find a spot for everything, you can often create more storage space simply by first organizing what you have. So take a tour of your home and look for ways to create space, re-organize what you have, recycle to others what you're not likely to use and discard (hard wo...
